The following indicators are part of the Central Bank of Chile’s “Experimental Statistics” project, which compiles and publishes statistics that are still under development or refinement. As a result, the published series may be subject to significant revisions. These statistics are innovative in terms of their data sources, statistical methods and/or fields of study. Experimental Statistics also aim to shorten the statistical production cycle and gather user feedback at an early stage of development.

Residential Property Price Index (IPV)

The IPV is compiled from administrative records of the Internal Revenue Service (SII), namely actual transactions of new and existing residential properties reported through Form F2890, complemented with data from the Real Estate Cadastre (CBR). The Central Bank of Chile receives this information under a collaboration agreement in force with the SII. The IPV uses the stratified mix-adjustment method to analyze housing price dynamics in Chile and is published quarterly, with a 120-day lag, on the last business day of January, April, July and October.
