People
The Central Bank of Chile is staffed by 770 persons (aside from the Board), including professionals, technicians, and administrative personnel from various areas. Its highest authority is the Board of governors, which directs and administers the Bank and makes decisions on monetary policy, financial regulation, and exchange rates.
The Bank's structure also includes a Senior Management team comprising the General Manager, Comptroller, Auditor General, eight Division Managers, and 20 Area Managers.
The General Manager is responsible for the immediate administration and oversight of the Bank, with the powers conferred and instructions given by the Board. The GM is responsible for the departments of Administration & Technology, Institutional Affairs, Statistics & Data, Financial Markets, Operations, Financial Policy, Monetary Policy, and Corporate & Personal Risk.
The Legal Counsel and Attestor is essentially responsible for ensuring the legality of the Bank's agreements, resolutions, and contracts, safeguarding the Bank's actions from legal risk.
The General Auditor is responsible for the internal inspection and oversight of the Bank's accounts, operations, and management standards.
