Biography

Mr. CLAUDIO SOTO GAMBOA is a commercial engineer from Universidad de Chile and holds an M.S. from the same university and a Ph.D. in economics from New York University (NYU).  Former positions include being the manager of Research and Public Policy at Banco Santander Chile as from 2017 until his appointment as a Board member of the Central Bank of Chile. 

Between 2014 and 2017 he was Chief Macroeconomic Advisor to the Chilean Finance Minister. 

At the Central Bank, he previously served as an economic analyst in the Economic Research Division, a senior economist in the Economic Research Department, head of the Models and Projections Department, and Manager of Macroeconomic Analysis.

He has authored several papers published in specialized journals and chapters in books. Among his academic activities, he has taught various undergraduate and graduate courses in macroeconomics and monetary theory at Universidad de Chile.
