The Board of the Central Bank decided to lowerthe monetary policy interest rate by seventy basis points from an annual UF plus 8.5% to UF plus 7.8%in view of the achievement of inflationary targets and current-account deficit in 1998 and the reasonable certainty of fulfilling them again in 1999.
