This paper presents the classification of household final consumption expenditure and private non-profit institutions serving households (NPISHs) by purpose, at current and constant prices for the series 2003-2007, using the Classification of Individual Consumption by Purpose (COICOP). Figures are estimated considering the household final consumption and NPISHs of Chilean National Accounts as reference frame. The important participation of categories such as food and non-alcoholic beverages (18.6%); housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (15.6%); and transportation (14.8%) in 2003, highlight among the results. In addition, it shows a structure in which services and non-durable goods explain more than 80% of the total expenditure. Later, these estimates will be incorporated into the publication of household’s final consumption and NPISHs, in Chile’s annual national accounts.
