Visiting Scholars Program 2023

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS – APRIL TO DECEMBER 2023

The Economic Research Department of the Central Bank of Chile invites applications for the Visiting Scholars Program in the areas of interest for the Bank, i.e. macroeconomics (broadly defined) and monetary policy.

Timing
We invite Visiting Scholars for the year 2023. Visits can take place anytime between April and December 2023.

Duration
Visits usually last one week, although longer durations of up to two or three weeks can be considered in the application.

Applicants
We invite scholars from both academia and policy institutions. Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in Economics or Finance at the time of applying and be active researchers. We particularly encourage first-time applications. Preference will be given to applicants with a proven record of publications in the Bank´s areas of interest.

Funding and accommodation
We will cover or reimburse a round-trip coach class airfare, cover accommodation and offer a net stipend of 100 dollars per day intended to cover food and transportation expenses.

Relationship with the Economic Research Department
We encourage Visiting Scholars to fully participate in the life of the Economic Research Department, attending research seminars and other events related to research that the Department organizes during their stay. We expect Visiting Scholars to present their own work in a seminar whilst they are visiting the Economic Research Department, and to submit subsequently a paper of their research agenda to the Working Paper Series of the Central Bank of Chile (which does not conflict with any later submission to a peer-reviewed journal).

Computer facilities and desk space
We provide Visiting Scholars working space and access to Economic Research Department facilities.

1. CV
2. “Title of the research project”: (summarize in a paragraph the part of the Visiting Scholar´s research agenda that will be further advanced during the applicant´s stay at the Central Bank of Chile)
3. Preferable days and length of the visit

Future calls for applications
The Visiting Scholars Program is annual. The next call will be announced in January/February 2024.
