2024 Internship Program Application focused on Ph.D. students

The Central Bank of Chile invites students who are pursuing a Ph.D. in Economics or Finance to apply for an internship at the Bank during their vacations in mid-2024. The internship should consider a deliverable to the Bank, which includes the organization of internal workshops or seminars, the provision of support on studies or research projects currently underway at the Bank and/or the development of specific projects related to the applicant’s doctoral thesis in issues of interest to the bank. 

The visit could be in remote mode or on-site mode (at Central Bank in Chile), according to the needs of the area. The candidate will have to specify it in the application. 

Priority will be given to Chilean students who are researching economic or financial issues related to the interest of the Central Bank of Chile. 

General terms:

  • The internship will last from a minimum of one month to a maximum of three months.
  • Interns will receive a monthly stipend equivalent to the average salary of level fifteen of the current Bank’s remuneration structure for on-site mode, and in remote modality this amount will be a 70% of the indicated. 
  • Access to data and its publication must comply the guidelines established by the Data Governance Committee of the Central Bank of Chile. 
  • In the case of Ph.D. students who are currently receiving a scholarship from the Central Bank of Chile, will not receive the monthly stipend.  

On-site terms: 

  • The Bank will pay the round-trip airfare for the selected candidates. 
  • Interns will be given lunch in the Bank’s cafeteria. 
  • Selected candidates are required to be covered by medical insurance during the period of their internship.
