Description

This paper shows the results of the Capital Stock Project included in the upcoming 2003 Base Year Program now in progress in the National Accounts Department. The project has been prepared in accordance with the objectives and methodological framework set forth in the Program, and has benefited from other publications and internal documents of the same department. The results provided are preliminary in nature, until the 2003 base and the capital stock series have been updated and completed, which will occur as soon as data of the year 2003 have been gathered and reconciled with the rest of the datasets of the Program. In that context, this paper shows the estimation methodology used and the results of a capital stock series for 1996-2001, with 1996 as the base year, broken down by areas of economic activity and types of assets.
