April 2026’s monthly index of economic activity, Imacec

According to preliminary data, last April the Imacec was down 1.2% compared to the same month a year before (Table 1). The seasonally adjusted series rose 0.1% from the previous month and fell 0.9% in twelve months. April this year came with the same number of working days as April 2025.

The Imacec result was driven by the decline in mining (Figure 1). The increase in the seasonally adjusted Imacec was led by the performance of manufacturing, which was partly offset by the decline in services (Figure 2).

The non-mining Imacec posted annual growth of 0.4%. In seasonally adjusted terms, it remained unchanged from the previous month and rose 0.7% over the past twelve months.
