According to preliminary information, last June the Imacec rose 1.3% over the same month a year before. The seasonally-adjusted series posted no change from the previous month, and rose 1.7% in twelve months. June 2019 came with one less working day than June 2018.

The mining Imacec increased by 0.3%, and the non-mining index did by 1.4%, favored by services and construction activity; an effect that was partly offset by the drop in manufacturing activity. In seasonally-adjusted terms, and with respect to the previous month, the mining Imacec increased 1.0% and the non-mining Imacec dropped 0.1%.

As per the calendar of National Accounts publication, preliminary GDP results for the second quarter this year, together with revisions to the first, will be released next 19 August.

In addition, we hereby announce that the Central Bank of Chile will anticipate the publication of the monthly index of economic activity (Imacec) to the first working day of each month, with a lag of 31 days.

This represents an improvement in the timing with which monthly activity figures will be made available to users, adding to previous efforts in the same direction, such as the disaggretation of mining and non-mining Imacec figures.

This new calendar will become effective on Octobre 1st with the Imacec of August 2019, the update of which can be seen on the Bank’s website,
