BERNARDITA PIEDRABUENA K. has been Chief Risk Officer at the Central Bank of Chile since March 2019. 

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Catholic University of Chile, where she was awarded as the best graduated student in Economics of her class. She holds a Master´s degree in Economics Science from Catholic University of Chile (1998), and a PhD in Economics from University of Chile (2013).

Previously, she worked as senior economist at Zahler&Co. consulting firm, and was consultant of the Office of Evaluation & Oversight and of the Capital Markets and Financial Institutions Division of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and consultant to the Senate of the Republic of Chile.

She was director of Capital Markets and International Finance at the Ministry of Finance of Chile, where she also was director of Macroeconomic Policy and junior economist in this same area; board member of the State-Owned Oil Company (ENAP); board member of Cotrisa; member of the Fiscal Advisory Council and member of the Surveillance Committee of Moneda Asset Fund Manager MDLAT. She also was Country Economist at the IDB; senior economist at the Economic Research Department of BBVA Bank; senior economist at CB Capitales; and consultant to Senator Sebastián Piñera.

Since 2013, she has been Professor at the Economic and Business School of the Catholic University of Chile, and she has also taught courses at the Economic and Business School of the University of Chile, at the School of Law of the University of Chile, at the School of Economic and Business of Diego Portales University, at the School of Economic and Business of Adolfo Ibáñez University, and at the School of Industrial Engineering of the University of Chile.

She is also the author of several publications and working papers on financial markets, fiscal and monetary policy.
