ANDRÉS FERNÁNDEZ MARTIN has been Manager of Economic Research at the Central Bank of Chile since April 1st, 2019. Previously, he served as Senior Researcher of the Research Department of the Inter-American Development Bank, which he joined in 2012.
He holds a PhD in Economics from the Rutgers University in New Jersey, United States, and both a Bachelor’s degree and an MA in Economics from the University of Los Andes, Bogotá, Colombia.
He has authored numerous articles in specialized journals on economics and finance, and chapters of books published by the IADB and by the Central Bank of Colombia. Likewise, he is an associate editor of the Journal of International Economics and a member of the potential GDP Group of the Ministry of Finance of Colombia. At the IADB, he also led the Network of South American Central Banks of Stability and Financial Development.
Earlier on, he served as professor, researcher, and instructor of the Economics Department of the University of Los Andes, in Bogotá, and as consultant of the Development Research Group of the World Bank. He has academic experience as instructor of the Economics Department of the Rutgers University and of the Economics Department of the University of Los Andes, Colombia.
