PABLO GARCÍA S. has been appointed Research Division Director of the Central Bank of Chile as from December 2007.
He was already working at the Central Bank as Financial Policy Division Director since August 2006, Financial Stability Manager (April-July 2006) and Macroeconomic Analysis Manager (2000-2006) and had previously been senior economist of the Macroeconomics Programming Management (2000) and of the Economic Research Management (1999). Prior to joining the Bank he was researcher (1993-1994) and research assistant (1991-1992) of the Latin American Economic Research Corporation (Cieplán).
Mr. García graduated in business studies in 1992 and received his master in economics in 1993 from the Catholic University of Chile. In 1999 he received his Ph.D in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Mr. García has taught macroeconomics at various academic institutions and is currently professor of Macroeconomics I of the master of economics program at the University of Chile’s Center for Applied Economics. He is also the author of several publications, chapters of books and working papers on macroeconomics and international economics.
