Luis Alberto Álvarez V.

LUIS ALBERTO ÁLVAREZ VALLEJOS was appointed Consultant Manager of Communications of the Central Bank in June 2006.

He graduated as journalist from the University of Chile and holds a master in Communication Strategy from the Adolfo Ibáñez University. From 2001 to 2006 he was Manager of Communication Strategy and Press Area Director at Imaginacción Consultores. Prior to that he was the General Editor of Qué Pasa weekly magazine; General Editor and Subdirector of the evening newspaper La Hora and Chief Editor of the free morning newspaper La Hora.

Mr. Álvarez had previously been Information Editor of La Tercera newspaper; Subdirector and acting Editor of El Diario Financiero and TVN’s (national television channel) Press Department Editor of Politics and Economy. He has been Reuters News Agency reporter in Chile and editor of its Economic Information Service. He was also journalist for El Mercurio newspaper in the early 1980s after starting out in the Press Department of Radio Portales.

He currently teaches in the Adolfo Ibáñez University School of Journalism.
Since June 2007 he is chairman of the Board of Directors of an affiliate institution of the Hogar de Cristo called Fundación Rostros Nuevos that aids 840 mentally impaired people in extreme poverty.
