Luis Opazo Roco.

LUIS OPAZO ROCO was appointed Manager of Financial Stability of the Central Bank of Chile in March 2010.

He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Georgetown University (2006), Master’s Degree in Economics from Ilades (1994) and graduated in Business Studies from the University of Concepción (1987).

Mr. Opazo was Head of Financial Research in the Central Bank of Chile’s Financial Policy Division (2008-2009) and Senior Economist in the Research Division (2007-2008), before he had been Senior Economist in the Financial Policy Division.

Prior to joining the Central Bank, Mr. Opazo worked as an associate economist for Jorge Quiroz and Associated Consultants (2000-2001) and Gerens (1992-2000). He has also been a consultant to international organizations (IDB and World Bank).

He is a professor of international finance for the doctor and master in economics programs of the University of Chile. He has published academic work in Chile and abroad and has taken part in various international conferences.
